2D animation would have to be the most recognized animation type in the world. This is popular for animators due to it being a "quick" process. Before the sudden boom of 3D animation, was the most used style with nearly everything; entertainment (movies and t.v series) to advertisements all kinds (The Bart Simpson Butterfinger adds to Ninja Turtle drug warning commercial).

It was in the 80s and 90s when the 2D animation influx really began,  due to the increased use of computer. Before computers were introduced, before then all the animators would draw everything by hand.

The example of this would have to be how Disney became an instant success. In the late 80's to late 90's, Disney and Disney Pixar animation boomed. With such movies as "Beauty and the Beast" "Little Mermaid" "Toy Story" and "The Lion King", Disney has become the a billion dollar company.

What the blog is about

This blog is a brief guide to the most recognized  types of animation that has developed over the years.

I chose this subject because I have always enjoyed the animated Disney movies as a child (and I not going to stop anytime soon), and recently I have been exploring other movies/shows that classed themselves as a animated feature. I was surprised at all the different styles and subcategories

Here in the blog we will be looking at four/five different types available that are considered the most recognized: 2D, 3D, Stop/Clay and Anime

These styles are popular due to the big explosion in visual media/ pop culture in the last twenty years; Simpsons, Wallace and Gromit, Disney/ Pixar, Poke'mon and Shrek are the best examples due to their immense popularity among a range of different age groups.

The RSS blog I found Cartoon Brew, is written by two animation historians. It  has some really good information about the animation categories, as well as the companies and people that work in the industry and what is coming out. If the reader was interested in some other good sites about animation, there is a list of recommend sites and blogs down the side of the blog.
